THE Dental Assistant Crash Course Description

This crash course gives students with zero dental background an opportunity to quickly accelerate their knowledge of the basics required of dental assistants in order to effectively continue learning on the job.

The aim of this course is to take the burden of training off the employer and still allow them to make hiring decisions that would greatly benefit the practice in the long term.

Students will learn basics of dental anatomy, sterilization, and their roles in some of the most common dental procedures they can expect to face during their first year in practice.

Topics to be covered address:

  • Roles in a dental office
  • Tooth anatomy
  • Infection control and sterilization basics
  • Ergonomics
  • Procedure based experiential learning for:
    • Emergency dentistry
    • Restorative dentistry
    • Extractions
    • Crown and Bridge
    • Veneers
    • Dentures
    • Root Canals
  • BONUS lessons:
    • Ranging from sedation to Invisalign, tooth whitening, and implants

Pre-requisites: No dental background or experience necessary. We highly recommend students already be employed in a dental office or be able to secure a position (whether paid or unpaid) in order to successfully complete the practical portion of the course.

Practical Location: Varies depending on student’s workplace location

Course Start Date: March 10, 2024
