THE Dental Assistant Crash Course Description

This crash course gives students with zero dental background an opportunity to quickly accelerate their knowledge of the basics required of dental assistants in order to effectively continue learning on the job.

The aim of this course is to take the burden of training off the employer and still allow them to make hiring decisions that would greatly benefit the practice in the long term.

Students will learn basics of dental anatomy, sterilization, and their roles in some of the most common dental procedures they can expect to face during their first year in practice.  

Topics to be covered address:

  • Roles in a dental office
  • Tooth anatomy
  • Infection control and sterilization basics
  • Ergonomics
  • Procedure based experiential learning for:
    • Emergency dentistry
    • Restorative dentistry
    • Extractions
    • Crown and Bridge
    • Veneers
    • Dentures
    • Root Canals
  • BONUS lessons:
    • Ranging from sedation to Invisalign, tooth whitening, and implants

Pre-requisites: No dental background or experience necessary. We highly recommend students already be employed in a dental office or be able to secure a position (whether paid or unpaid) in order to successfully complete the practical portion of the course.

Describe the entire sterilization process and explain its significance in a dental office

INSTRUMENTS AND MATERIALS

Identify the relevant instruments and materials needed for each of the various procedures being covered in this course

INFECTION CONTROL

Identify and describe the necessary infection control procedures for each of the procedures taught in this course as it relates to their specific dental office setting

TOOTH ANATOMY

Identify correct tooth anatomy and nomenclature with ease

PROCEDURAL COMPETENCE

Describe the setup and take down routines and requirements for procedures taught in this course

PRACTICAL COMPETENCY

Confidently and competently demonstrate the ability to setup, take down, and assist the dentist in the skills taught in this course via successful completion of the practical sessions

How much does the course cost?

The course is $1,599 per student, plus tax. This includes all lessons, tests, practical sessions and access to your instructor via the discussion board and zoom office hours. There will be an additional cost for the textbook being used, if you decide to purchase it. You will receive instructions on how to purchase the textbook after registering for the course.

How long does the course take to complete?

The course will take a total of 3 weeks to complete. You will cycle between theory (self-paced) during the week, and a practical work placement on the weekend with your current employer.

The theory content can be done on your time, and does not require you to take any time off of work in order to complete it.

 

Please note: This is an intensive course, and you will be required to complete the relevant theory material during the week before your practical work placement.

DDSMasters is not registered under the Ontario Private Career Colleges Act, 2005 as we do not offer vocational courses as defined in the Act.

What is your cancellation/refund policy?

The DDSMasters Dental Assisting Crash Course is offered to those individuals serious about being able to perform dental assisting duties in a dental setting. Individuals are asked to carefully consider registering for the course before making the commitment. It is a high quality course that gives you the boost you need to kickstart your career in the least amount of time and with the most flexibility. However, we do expect full commitment after registering.

For this reason, there are no refunds if you decide to cancel or leave the course part way through.
